Description
Streets of Seville - Church of St Luis 2 by Andrea Mazzocchetti
The Church of San Luis de los Franceses of Seville, the most sumptuous of all the temples of the baroque Seville, was originally intended as a church of the former Jesuit novitiate. It is located at number 27 of San Luis street. His works begin in 1699 and are blessed by the Archbishop Salcedo and Azcona in 1731, in the so-called "Royal Luster" (eighteenth century), a few years in which Felipe V and his court pass through Seville.
Unfortunately the street that hosts the church, very narrow, dramatically reduces its visual impact, contrary to what had probably thought the author whose name is unknown. The style, especially of this facadehas many elements of the Italian baroque, while the Sevillian Leonardo de Figueroa, which appears in the documents, may have only attended the works.
