The Aston Martin Vantage is a car in a coupé or roadster configuration produced since 2005 by the British car manufacturer Aston Martin.
It was designed by designer Henrik Fisker, former designer of the Artega GT. It was designed to be the entry model in the Aston Martin price list, below the DB9 and Vanquish, even if it costs more than € 100,000.
The name was taken from a series of cars of the past that already boasted the Aston Martin V8 Vantage produced from 1973 to 1990 and the Aston Martin Virage produced until 2000.
A first concept of the car was created in 1999 and was named Project Vantage.
Subsequently, a more advanced and defined concept car, called AMV8 Vantage, was presented at the Detroit motor show in 2003. It anticipated in part design and mechanics.
In 2008 the British manufacturer developed a racing version of the V8 Vantage compliant with the technical regulations of the FIA and ACO Gran Turismo Class 2 regulations, the model called V8 Vantage GT2, derives from the frame of the road car appropriately revised for use on the track, the V8 engine has a displacement of 4.5 liters and flanges on the intake manifolds to limit its maximum power, the body in carbon fiber follows the original, with the addition of front spoiler, rear wing, the car bottom is flat, outlets of air for the heat dissipation of the engine compartment, glazed windows in Plexiglas.
Managed by the official Aston Martin Racing team, it has competed in several championships such as: American Le Mans Series, FIA GT Championship, Le Mans Series, 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In 2012 the car was further updated and renamed V8 Vantage GTE, complying with the FIA World Endurance Championship rules and inserted in the new GTE class that takes the place of the previous GT2 class.
In 2012 another competition version was set up, the V12 Vantage GT3, derived from the V12 Vantage, complies with the FIA regulations for GT3 class Gran Turismo.
