Description
Malaga Streets - San Juan church by Andrea Mazzocchetti
The origin of the parish of San Giovanni Battista, known by its abbreviated name San Juan, dates back to the conquest of the city by the Catholic Kings in 1487. The one of San Giovanni represents one of the four parishes (along with that of Santiago, of the Martyrs and the Sagrario) in which the city was divided after the Christian conquest. However, the current appearance of the building and the inscriptions on the façade are the result of various interventions carried out during the 18th century.
