Chicago, the third largest city in the United States after New York and Los Angeles, is the home of blues and true jazz. It has the spirit of comedy and a skyscraper body. Here, the age of the railways found its capital, and that of the planes seems to have followed its example. Humble butchers of pigs but devoted loyal to progress - as the great poet Carl Sandburg expressed - Chicago is one of the great cities of the world, but the metropolitan luxuries of the theater, the glitzy shops and restaurants have little against the traditional Midwest friendly atmosphere .
Chicago is a swaggering city, but without the grumpiness or false smiles you find in other cities of its size. Midwestern hub, Chicago is easy to find - its picturesque horizons between a pleasant Michigan shore and a skyline full of skyscrapers soon introduce the city with world-class museums in both art and science, without count the miles of sandy beaches, the huge parks and the art strewn in the streets.
With an endless wealth of iconic places and neighborhoods to explore, there is enough to fill a visit of days, weeks or even months, without ever being able to be satiated.
If you come here in winter, dress up heavy and get ready for long walks and great journeys by metro and bus. Chicago can be understood only on the move with - as someone has said about her "the pride of tired feet and the eyes raised once more towards the sky".
