Description
A look at history - St. Peter's Basilica by Andrea Mazzocchetti
A view of St. Peter's Basilica from the fabulous Ponte Sant'Angelo in Rome. Here history, art and charm come together in a unique and inimitable context, that of the Eternal City. Centuries of history pass in a moment before our eyes, while below us the river Tiber flows slowly, witness of the rise and fall of a great empire.
Ponte Sant'Angelo (the Bridge of Hadrian), is a Roman bridge in Rome, Italy, completed in 134 AD by Roman Emperor Hadrian, to span the Tiber, from the city center to his newly constructed mausoleum, now the towering Castel Sant'Angelo. The bridge is faced with travertine marble and spans the Tiber with five arches, three of which are Roman; it was approached by means of ramp from the river.
